Plain and simple, Saigonese are loser and no way can compare to Hanoian in any aspect. Hanoian are smarter, clever, braver (yes, some are heartless). Even the most successful people in Saigon now are Hanoian.
The winner takes all, the losers take shit!
Sorry to say that!

of course, Hanoians is love their people in the Southern. They never hate each other, the VN war just made them hate the government. Now, VN is one country and Vietnamese is Vietnamese , it's not North Vietnamese and South Vietnamese, so we love each other at all ... voice, food, etc ... all of these is from VN culture. Maybe we have some difficult when we speak VNmese, just because local voice, so it's not make we hate each other or some thing. Hanoians love Saigonese as same as their soul.

I see where your getting at with accent
But from Vietnam history
The northern Viets
Were actually the first to engage in the language and created their accent
South was a weaker domain but was much more progressive and is why Saigon is so large today
And so Southern Viets amplified the langauge and naturally they spoke much faster and simply changed a few spelling

Hanoi people do not hate the accent nor do Saigon hate theirs
It was just the grudge back then within the opposing governments and eventually the Vietnam war
And so they cut borders to anything related to what they thought was their enemy

Many Viet's of both parts can be careless with their words and if they find someone that shares the same idea or agree's to, they will continue to discuss no matter how far it becomes which in this case, grew the fact of difference in accent

I can tell you difference's against north and south
Because of the strict climate in the North, the people there can be rough and have a care free mood
to act lazy

Southern people are more like peace lovers they like to stay home after going to work eat with their family and discuss their day. If they do not get the chance to like Northern they will change and eventually get involved into negative situations

Truthfully all Viets from both sides are the same
We no longer have borders either but do recognize them for that the language has not change and their lifestyle's
But many of us group up for that many are looking for jobs in other countries and ask aid for one another(those that understand viet of course)

Stop wasting space, time and my life with your bullshit.

No wonder the world is fucked up. People actually read and believe the shit they read on the internet like it's Gospel.

Get a life. Don't read newspapers, Don't read shit on the internet. Experience for yourself.

Chúc mừng năm mới.

This entry of yours is too much subjective, pa :D
Although it's fun, and most of it is true but those true things are not the common things I guess ^^

How they treat you:
Saigonese will never show that they hate you. But don’t think that they like you. If they don’t call you again, they mean that you’re not fun to hang out with.
Hanoians are famous for being acting “cool”. And when their compliments are so toneless, they might as well speak of the weather, but you should be very careful. They hate you.

--> wrong. people in SG are frankly. If they hate you, you will know. If they love you, they will sow. In Ha Noi, you never know since they are famously politic. They make you feel that you are the best, like they like you a lot. Nah!

Seriously? I mean, I'm living in Hanoi and none of those things make sense to me at all.

1. I never ever hate Saigon voice. I love it, and if I catch someone speaking Saigon voice I would love to hear them speak. And I have heard many comments from Saigonese of how lovely Hanoi voice is.

2. Proud of lakes? Having a hell lot of lakes is not something to be proud of at all and what makes us proud most is not lake but the history of the capital. And why should Hanoians be proud of their lakes when the South is famous for their rivers and canals? Plus, my friends and I always complimented Saigonese' friendliness, not once dishing them.

Your little speech is just funny and sounds way too much like a personal opinion than anything. How come you stated it as the 'one true thing' is beyond me. Stereotype, I say.
